When medical emergencies happen, basic lifesaving skills
can mean the difference between life and death. A trusted
leader in health and safety education for nearly 100
years, the Red Cross teaches people to save lives when
seconds count, and helps participants lead safer,
healthier lives.
Health
Services
Volunteers provide a wide range of health education
programs and services for persons at work, school, home,
and community sites. Some offerings include: blood
pressure screenings, back injury prevention, bloodborne
pathogens training, healthy pregnancy/healthy baby, and
HIV/AIDS education.
Safety
Services
The American Red Cross offers a complete range of
health and safety educational programs. Specifically, the
Red Cross strives to help people prepare for, cope with,
and avoid emergencies in the areas of cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and water safety.
CPR
CPR
classes teach participants how to assess an emergency,
provide rescue breathing, and care for someone choking, as
well as assist a heart attach victims before emergency
medical services arrive. Specific courses include:
Infant/Child CPR, Adult CPR, and Professional Rescuer CPR.

First Aid
A
Red Cross standard first aid course provides participants
lifesaving skills needed to assist injured persons in a
variety of settings. Classes include: Community First Aid
& Safety, First Aid-Responding to Emergencies, First Aid
for Children Today, and Sport Safety Training.
